Setting & Character
A working west-Cornwall fishing port with the village a two-minute walk from the leisure pontoon. Expect MFVs, market traffic and commercial priority — leisure visitors are accommodated, not the main story.
Arrival by Sea
Call Newlyn Harbour on VHF Channel 12 before you enter and take the watchkeeper’s berthing advice. Arrival is possible at most states of tide for most vessels, but confirm depths and any operational constraints on the day. Orientation only — use a current Mount’s Bay chart.
Choosing a Berth
Secure gated visitor pontoon for craft up to 15 m; over that, North Quay if space allows. First-come; rafting happens. Do not bring pets into the harbour estate. Mousehole’s winter block-in is a local fishing-harbour story — do not treat Mousehole as a default all-year yacht alternative without checking separately.
Fuel & Facilities
Confirm fuel, power and shore facilities with the harbour on arrival. Visitor pontoon charges are stated to include harbour dues, waste and water. Village shops and cafés are immediate.
Tides
Use the free official tide tables linked below — this guide does not copy tide heights.
Old Sea Dogs View
The west-Cornwall working-port pin — Land’s End approach character, fish-market honesty, and a pontoon if you call Ch 12 early.
