With fifteen knots coming from the West, the conditions for sailing on Saturday were promising. The starting line was teeming with anticipation as five Redwings and four One-Designs took their positions for this highly awaited face-off east of Under Tyne. Despite an unexpected 20-degree wind shift, the first Redwings’ race went ahead, providing a nail-biting spectacle.
Oliver Morgan in ‘Prawn’ took to the inshore side and closely followed Tara’s tracks, steered by the relentless Bruce Huber. The first round ended rather abruptly due to the weakening wind, leaving Bruce victorious, followed by Oliver, Rory, Xander, and Robin. The wind pattern changes continued to test the sailors, making the competition more exciting.

Luke and Sara Griffith embarked on a memorable summer cruise to the sublime Scilly Isles. Their nautical journey commenced at the south-west corner of St Mary’s in Porthcressa. The first day wrapped with a satisfying afternoon tea at The Atlantic pub, following a delightful stroll around the garrison.
Their adventure continued through Crow Sound, heading towards the Hats Buoy cardinal, where they set a northwest transit under the watchful gaze of the famous Gunsight rock. The Griffiths navigated their way carefully and ended up in St Helen’s Pool. Against the backdrop of a shining sun, they hopped into their tender and set off for St Martin’s. Once there, a refreshing dip in the beach was obligatory, especially for their ecstatic pet, Marmalade.
