Setting & Character
The marina sits in Parkstone Bay on the northern side of Poole Harbour. It has a strong dry-berthing operation as well as pontoons, moorings and shore-side marine services.
Arrival by Sea
The marina asks arriving boats to check that they have sufficient tide and to use its current arrival map. Approach through Poole Harbour using PHC guidance and contact the marina office before arrival for current instructions.
Berthing Experience
Visitor pontoon berths and visitor swinging moorings are offered, subject to availability; July and August can be particularly busy. The marinas pontoon berths are described as suitable for vessels up to 17m, with the operator noting a 1m-draught suitability figure for those berths.
Facilities
Official information lists fresh water, 16A electricity, WiFi, on-site fuel, 24-hour CCTV, valeting and antifouling support. The boatyard can lift vessels up to 47 tonnes, and South Deep provides a waterside restaurant and bar.
Ashore
South Deep is the marinas on-site restaurant and social centre. The setting is more self-contained than Poole Quay, with marina services concentrated on site.
Best For
Motorboats, RIBs and owners who value dry-berthing options, on-site servicing and a marina restaurant.
Less Suitable For
Deep-draught visitors who have not confirmed sufficient water and an appropriate berth before arrival.
Nearby Cruising
Brownsea Island lies to the south, while Sandbanks and the harbour entrance are a short run east through the marked channels.
Skipper's Notes
The operator explicitly tells visiting boats to check sufficient tide. No current official marina VHF channel was located, so contact by telephone before arrival.
Information checked against official sources
Berthing, services and visitor information were checked against Parkstone Bay Marinas current website and PHC harbour guidance.
Approach and arrival
Enter and navigate Poole Harbour using current PHC guidance.
The marina instructs waterborne visitors to check that they will have sufficient tide and to consult its current arrival map.
Contact the marina office before final approach for berth and tide guidance.
Tidal information
The marina states that arrival and some launch operations are tide-dependent; check sufficient water before approach.
Hazards and cautions
Shallow water in Parkstone Bay away from deeper channels.
Tide-dependent access for some marina operations.
Practical notes
Visitor space is subject to availability. Confirm sufficient tide and your allocated berth directly with the marina.
Old Sea Dogs View
Parkstone Bay is less a single marina product than a collection of ways to keep a boat. For the right boat particularly a RIB, sportsboat or motorboat that flexibility is the attraction. Visitors should pay more attention to tide and berth suitability here than at the town-quay marinas.
Warnings
Use the latest Poole Harbour Commissioners Harbour Guide, Local Notices to Mariners, shipping movements, tide information and marina instructions before arrival.
No current official working VHF channel for Parkstone Bay Marina was located in the checked sources; contact the marina directly before arrival.
