Exhilarating Boat Races, Sun-soaked Sunday Fun, Compliments to Dart Sails & Covers Regatta 2026 at Plym Yacht Club

Following years of deprivation, the Plym Yacht Club heralded the return of a vibrant Regatta weekend, reveling in a mix of yacht racing.

No way better to celebrate the glorious return of the Regatta at Plym Yacht Club than with an action-packed weekend given the full backing of NJO Sails and Dart Sails & Covers. Sweating it out under solar brilliance, the event bore witness to 14 sailing boats idling along the starting line, their minds on the prize and hands gripping the tackle, ready to ride the watery arena of the sea.

Sunday dawned a new day, and with it hope for the commencement of sailoring battles. Optimism driving their spirits high, the boats took their respective places at the line, waiting for the green signal from RO Mike Pearson. The winds of fortune blew favourably, enabling the launch of the much-anticipated race. A tactful gybe by Caspar Barton and Jason Culmer’s J/24 at the windward mark catapulted them into the lead, securing an almost two-minute margin lead in the first race. However, the day wasn’t devoid of a few misstarters, those who failed to grab the whispering winds favouring the left.

With the larger boats pacing ahead in the primarily southward journey, the fleet witnessed a large gap forming across the course. Towards the finish line, the smaller boats emerged victorious, with Tilted barely clinching the third position from NJOS. Dominic Hanley’s Stitch walked away with a winning margin of 3 minutes, securing the Regatta by a 2-point margin.

Many cheerfully lifted their prize at the giving ceremony, followed by an outpouring of gratitude to the sponsors and volunteers. The sunset painted a beautiful end to a weekend of adrenaline-pumping yacht racing, laughter, fun in the sun, reminding all present why the Plym Yacht Club is a cherished part of their sailing-loving hearts.
