Two magnificent sailing events have garnered considerable attention: The British Contender Championship travelled to Hythe and Saltwood Club, while the Rolex TP52 World Championship unfolded in the picturesque Porto Cervo.

In the world of sailing, the thrill of high tide challenges was well encapsulated in two recent championships. The British Contender Association National Travellers’ Trophy Series journeyed to Hythe and Saltwood Club with fourteen fabulous entries. The weekend of 6th and 7th June was marked by high winds with gusts up to 40mph on the first day. The unpredictability of the weather transformed the day into a bimbling one, full of sail measurements and explorations.

Despite the weather’s capricious temperament, the sailors’ spirit was not dampened, filling the evening with cheerful camaraderie over a communal chilli supper. As fortune would have it, the winds behaved the following day with the weather recording 15mph average gusting 24mph for the first hour of racing. The challenging conditions led to countable capsizes, breakages and retirements, yet instilled memorable racing experiences.

Replete with high adrenaline and camaraderie, both events have further heightened the appeal of sailing.
