Welcome to Weymouth Harbour

Weymouth’s old harbour is a working, visiting and fishing harbour in the heart of town, and most visitors lie alongside floating pontoons with gangways ashore.

Arrival by Sea

Call Weymouth Harbour on Ch 12 for berthing advice before entering. Pierhead traffic signals and Town Bridge lights are separate — obey both. Arriving in silent hours, follow the harbour’s berthing map or raft on a similar boat. The harbour’s silent-hours guidance limits the south side (the Cove) to vessels of 1.5 m draft maximum, and asks vessels over 10 m to berth on the north side, opposite the Lifeboat Station or outside the Harbour Office. Larger craft (over 18 m) should give advance notice. Check with the harbour office before arrival.

Town Bridge

The bridge opens to a published timetable; listen on Ch 12 at least five minutes before a scheduled lift and be in sight of the operator. In winter at least one hour’s notice is required for every lift. Weymouth Harbour gives the bridge a charted vertical clearance of 2.75 metres (Local Notice to Mariners 02/2026); check the current timetable, the bridge gauge and your air draft with the harbour office before arrival.

Ashore

Custom House Quay, the Nothe Fort, the beach and the town centre are all on foot.
