Lürssen, the German luxury yacht builder, has broken new ground with the delivery of the 114-metre superyacht Nausicaä, one of the first yachts worldwide to be fitted with fuel-cell technology.

Renowned German shipbuilder Lürssen has once again confirmed its premier status in the realm of superyacht creation. This time, it’s with their latest masterpiece - the 114.2-metre superyacht Nausicaä - creating ripples in the yachting community for being one of the first of its kind to be powered by hydrogen fuel-cell technology. Originally dubbed as Project Cosmos, this futuristic vessel recently embarked on its maiden voyage en route to Gibraltar.

One of the yacht’s most breathtaking features is its 56-square-metre Skydome - a grandiose glass canopy perched atop the yacht. Custom-designed by Lürssen, it enthrals with its unique configuration of hemispherical panoramic views and generous headroom. Architectural innovation continues in a likewise manner throughout the boat, with a continuous band of window encircling the entire upper deck. Here, matching material for the bulwarks, door and even the technical spaces create the illusion of an ‘uninterrupted ribbon of glass’.

Lined with a plethora of impressive features, Nausicaä’s overall style and functional excellence reflects the visionary push of the brilliant designer and extraordinary commitment of the client, to transcend the realm of superyachts. Lürssen’s CEO, Peter Lürssen, stated that they continue to test the limits of scale and structural complexity, creating spaces that not only impress aesthetically, but also serve functional purposes for their clients. As Lürssen’s latest innovation hits the high seas, one thing is clear - the future of yachting will be greener and more adventurous than ever.
