A sheltered deep-water marina in Weevil Creek, with all-tide access and quick reach of Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent.

Marina · The Solent

Welcome to Royal Clarence Marina

Royal Clarence Marina sits within the historic Royal Clarence Yard on the Gosport side of Portsmouth Harbour. It is a quieter alternative to the harbour-mouth marinas, with the working naval landscape still close at hand.

Setting & Character

The marina occupies Weevil Creek beside the former victualling yard. Aquavista describes coastal moorings with harbour views and easy Solent access.

Arrival by Sea

Enter Portsmouth Harbour under current KHM directions. From the north end of the Small Boat Channel, pass Gosport Marina and the MOD fuelling jetty, then turn into Weevil Creek, keeping the fuelling jetty to port and Burrow Island to starboard.

Berthing

Contact Royal Clarence Marina on VHF Channel 80 or telephone 023 9252 3523 before entering for current berthing instructions.

Facilities Ashore

The marina office and facilities are opposite the pontoons, while Royal Clarence Yard has places to eat and Gosport town connections nearby. Confirm the current service list directly.

Nearby Cruising

Portsmouth Harbour, Gunwharf Quays and the eastern Solent are close, with Gosport and Haslar Marina downstream.

Information checked against official sources

The approach and contact details were checked against Aquavista and current KHM Portsmouth harbour guidance.

Approach and arrival

Use the Small Boat Channel where applicable, follow current KHM directions, then proceed via Weevil Creek under the marinas published arrival guidance.

Hazards and cautions

Commercial and naval traffic in Portsmouth Harbour.

Mud encroaches beyond the green piles east of the marina, especially at low water.

The main channel passes close to the end of A pontoon.

Practical notes

Check the operator, harbour authority, current Notices to Mariners, weather and tide information immediately before arrival.

Old Sea Dogs View

Royal Clarence Marina earns its place in a Portsmouth-area collection by offering a distinct kind of stop, not by pretending every berth serves the same passage plan.
