Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) is based in London and Cowes, United Kingdom. It is an offshore racing club with London roots, a Cowes presence and a calendar that has sent many crews home shorter on sleep.
Founded in 1925, it has become known for the Fastnet Race, offshore championships, IRC racing and serious race management.
On the water, RORC racing is offshore by nature: tides, night work, weather routing, watch systems and the honest business of keeping a boat moving.
Ashore, The club supports race organisation, member hospitality and offshore administration rather than acting as a simple marina club.
For visiting sailors, Crews should read race documents properly; RORC events reward preparation and have little sympathy for optimistic paperwork.
