Unveiling the Pristine Remodel of the 29-metre Yacht Belle de Jour, a True Testament to Dutch Craftsmanship
In a triumphant blend of tradition and innovation, the Balk Shipyard in the Netherlands announces the stunning relaunch of the Belle de Jour, following an intensive four-month refit. Since its inception, the shipyard has been living up to its reputation of carefully preserving the stories these majestic vessels have to offer while preparing them for their next exciting chapter.
The stalwart Belle de Jour, a 29-metre motor yacht, has been a repeat client at the yard. From spot hotwork on her hull, rudder repairs and complete antifouling, to a pastel blue repaint of her hull below the waterline and a refashioned mast deck – this comprehensive endeavour involved much more than a mere makeover. Her elaborate technical and electrical systems also were keenly inspected and diligently maintained where necessary.
With her riveting exterior lines, closed bulwarks, and substantial freeboard, Belle de Jour exudes a commanding presence, creating an impression of a much larger vessel. The vessel’s general arrangement maximizes space, delivering an interior volume of 140GT.
The refit was carried out in close collaboration with Belle de Jour’s original builders, ensuring the same attention to Dutch design principles and build quality as at her original launch. The spirit of Dutch excellence is ingrained in her, a factor that makes her a true icon in the maritime world. The yacht’s expected redelivery is on the horizon, and the countdown begins for her to show off her new exquisite metamorphosis.
A nod to another impressive transformation; the shipyard recently relaunched the 45-metre Royal Hakvoort motor yacht Awatea after seven months of refit works. For both these yachts, a lot more than just a facelift went into their remodel. Rather, it was about exemplifying their heritage, transforming them, celebrating their past, and setting them up for an exciting future– a testament to Dutch shipbuilding heritage.
