Thrilling Return of the Acclaimed Royal Thames Yacht Club 250 Regatta on the 2027 Sailing Calendar

As the sun sets on the spectacular 250th Anniversary Regatta of the Royal Thames Yacht Club, sailors and spectators alike eagerly set their sights on the horizon, awaiting the event’s thrilling return in June 2027. Termed simply as the ’250 Regatta,’ this stellar event is resurfacing as a biannual spectacle following its outstanding debut in 2025, etching a permanent place on the esteemed sailing calendar.

Evoking memories of the inaugural regatta, which saw over 250 boats contesting across 16 distinctive classes, the 2027 event promises to be a grand affair. It is set to feature nine national championships, three district championships, and the prestigious 1776 Cumberland Cup. The 2025 incarnation saw over 108 races conducted across five racecourses, with more than 1,200 sailors from 40 countries raising their sails, braving the breezes, and racing towards victory.

To quote Magnus Wheatley, an award-winning journalist, it was ‘a most remarkable summer festival of sail on the Solent’. Sailing giants, including Olympic medallists, America’s Cup sailors, and Admiral’s Cup contenders, brought with them an unmatched caliber to the competition.
