Revolutionising Exploration: Archipelago Yachts Advances with Its Second 24 Metre Explorer Yacht
Archipelago Yachts, the illustrious British shipyard, is shaping the future of sea exploration with the design contract for their second Archipelago 80 explorer yacht. Following the same hull form of the first 24-metre model, which is currently in the shipyard, this latest endeavour is poised to eclipse its predecessor’s capabilities and deliver a more impressive array of on-board features. With the aim to exceed, the company envisions an elevated approach to interior design. In an innovative move, the shipyard is wielding complete creative control by handling interior designs in-house, which promises greater synergy with onboard engineering while offering a seamless process for owner customisation. This yacht is no mere upgrade – it’s a leap forward in design and functionality. It has been aptly described as a ’next generation pocket superyacht’. Bounding forward with fearless inventiveness, the vehicle incorporates a multitude of enticing features: a high-capacity helipad, a dedicated gym and sauna space, and a substantially enlarged kitchen/galley area specifically designed for extended voyages. Grand spaces for dining both inside and out, along with enough accommodation for up to 16 guests, mark this yacht as the epitome of grandeur and practicality. The vessel will be powered by a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system to offer substantial payload capacity and long-range capability. In fact, Archipelago Yachts has declared that this would make it one of the most flexible sub-24-metre explorer platforms on the market. The bespoke layout of the yacht is fully customisable in accordance with the owner’s preferences, ensuring a deeply personal touch. With the company’s newest production facility on Isle of Wight, inaugurated in February this year, this second Archipelago 80 series vessel will be designed and engineered using the best resources available. Taking pride in their newfound capabilities, Dr Stephen Weatherley, CEO of Archipelago Yachts, promises ‘a higher standard with this second model.’ The detailed design phase has already begun for the yacht, with construction envisaged to kick-off in 2027, making the future of sea exploration as alluring as ever.
