Van der Valk Floats Out Magnificent 36m Custom Yacht Jangada

Van der Valk has floated out its latest grand creation, the custom 35.9-metre superyacht Jangada. This recent launch stemmed from its Waalwijk facilities and will hit the Mediterranean waves with sea trials scheduled to commence in the near future. This majestic vessel has been crafted for a loyal client of the Dutch-based shipyard. The owner has a fondness for the Jangada brand, having previously owned a 25-metre and a 32-metre yacht both carrying the same name. The 32-metre Jangada was even nominated for the illustrious World Superyacht Awards 2020.

The very first Jangada was launched in 2015 as one of Van der Valk’s trailblazing raised pilothouse models. This charismatic build has since left a significant footprint in the yachting community, inspiring several prominent projects for other clients. All three builds were designed through a collaboration with the shipyard and esteemed designers, Nick Top, and Guido de Groot.

This new addition to the Jangada line has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate the evolving requirements of the owner’s growing family, as well as to suit ‘structural changes’ to the home berth based in the scenic Bay of St Tropez. In order to meet the request for reduced noise and vibration, the shipyard chose a steel hull complemented with an aluminium superstructure and pervasive sound insulation. Besides the remarkable quiet performance, Jangada boasts of some stellar amenities including a dedicated gym, commanding 2.6-metre-high ceilings, and a jet-stream pool perched on the flybridge.

The yacht also displays elegant interiors that flaunt whitewashed wood details embodying ‘architectural functionality’. Its layout is incredibly family-friendly, with a full-beam owner’s suite forward of the main deck and lower deck cabins customised for the owner’s children and grandchildren. Van der Valk currently has four yachts under construction or on order. This includes its most ambitious venture yet, the 47.8-metre Project Zen, its largest custom superyacht to date.
