Sunseeker Martinique 36 - An Owner's Review
Typically powered by twin Volvo Penta diesel engines, such as the AQAD41 or AD41 models delivering 200hp each, the Martinique 36 combines efficiency with power. Some boats have been re-engined or upgraded, like a 1990 model reconditioned in 2003 with Volvo Penta KAD 42 engines and new DPE outdrives, enhancing reliability. The boat’s fuel capacity of around 660 litres and freshwater capacity of 204 litres make it suitable for extended coastal cruising. Accommodation is a highlight, with the Martinique 36 offering 6 berths across two cabins plus a saloon. The master cabin often features an island double berth, while a twin guest cabin provides additional sleeping space. The interior includes a well-equipped galley with a fridge, sink, and hob (sometimes induction), a spacious saloon with updated LED lighting, and a heads compartment with an electric toilet and shower. The large cockpit, often laid with synthetic teak, seats up to ten, with convertible tables for sunbathing, making it ideal for socialising.
Modern upgrades on many Martinique 36s include bow thrusters, Raymarine chartplotters, VHF radios, GPS, diesel heating, and electric windlasses, enhancing navigation and comfort. Some boats feature hydraulic gangways, air conditioning, and generators, catering to luxury cruising needs. The hull, occasionally resprayed in striking colours like pearlescent Maserati blue, adds to its timeless appeal. With a displacement of around 7,112 kg, the Martinique 36 offers stability and versatility for family outings or high-speed adventures. Its blend of classic Sunseeker styling, robust performance, and sociable layout makes it a sought-after vessel for those seeking a reliable, stylish cruiser that stands the test of time.
