Westport’s Enchanting 'Avalina' Finds a New Home: Semi-displacement Motor Yacht Changes Hands
Sharing the news that makes every sailing enthusiast’s heart burst with thrill: the 39.6-metre Westport motor yacht Avalina has found its new possessor. Jeff Shaffer of Superyacht Sales and Charter represented the seller, showcasing an impressive sales acumen. Simultaneously, the buyer’s interests were well-courted by Chris Daves from Denison Yachting. It was a deal done in sailing heaven, truly fitting for a vessel as magnificent as Avalina.
This semi-displacement Westport 130 is a testament to the U.S. yard’s craftsmanship and design prowess. Created in 2003 using Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), Avalina boasts a design planned and executed in-house. Credits go to the famed Naval Architect William Garden for the yacht’s clean, contemporary exterior profile that simply stuns onlookers.
The interior is another chapter to fall in love with, featuring a cherry wood finish throughout, creating a homey ambiance of warmth and comfort. It accommodates ten guests across five cabins, a main deck master suite featuring a queen-sized bed and jacuzzi bathtub, two doubles, and two twins on the lower deck, and cabins for a crew of seven. Common areas abound, with the saloon a generous rendition of welcoming design and a separate formal dining room for exquisite dining. The sundeck is a whole other realm of luxury, with a jacuzzi and sunpads to enjoy the oceanic vista.
Beneath its understated elegance lies brute strength. Powered by a pair of 2,735hp MTU engines, this 298GT yacht can shred the waves at a top speed of 24 knots or coast leisurely at cruising speed of 13 knots. Avalina has certainly left an indelible mark on Fort Lauderdale, its last port before the sale, and will undoubtedly continue to make waves with its new owner.
