Team Holcim-PRB’s Setback Becomes Triumph as It Wins Redress at The Ocean Race Europe
When we put ourselves at the mercy of the ocean’s vast expanse, we brace for every sudden gust and rogue wave. The race is rarely ever only against other boats, but also against circumstance and, if not careful, misfortune. Thus was the narrative set for Team Holcim-PRB at the start of The Ocean Race Europe in Kiel, Germany back in August 2025. A collision, not foreseen nor bargained for, compelled them to abandon the first leg of the race. Amid the salty splash of defeat, their hopes capsized.
‘We’re pleased with the Jury decision’, said Alan Roberts, a crew member representing Team Holcim-PRB, ‘This result fairly recognises our performance across the entire race. Proudly successful in Cartagena, we are back in full racing spirit, more determined than ever. Each hiccup is merely an opportunity for a stronger comeback.’ Their spirits certainly were unphased, the sweet taste of redemption sowing seeds of resilient hope.
Two days later, they lined up again for the third leg from Cartagena to Nice. Though the unforgiving waters yet awaited, the team faced the challenging ocean expanse with their heads held high, ready to embrace their fortune-changing journey. Each crash of the wave was a reminder of their victory over adversity, the taste of success amidst the salty sprays. The Ocean Race Europe saw the tides tide change for Team Holcim-PRB, truly a triumph from tragedy. For in the seas of uncertainty, every setback may just be the start of a comeback.
