An Inside Look at Royal Huisman’s Revolutionary 81 Metre Sailing Series, Trident 810, and the Groundbreaking Revelations from the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show

Revealing a thrilling breakthrough in yacht design, Royal Huisman unveils its Trident 810, a semi-custom platform. Simultaneously, the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show showcases exceptional new designs and systems.

In an industry typically perceivable as traditional, Royal Huisman has made an announcement that goes against the current. It’s new semi-custom 81-meter sailing yacht series, the Trident 810, is setting the world on fire with its impressive design and futuristic technology. A collaboration with Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley Design, the Trident 810 showcases the fusion of Royal Huisman’s vast sailing yachts’ performance with the build efficiency of a platform that can be semi-customised. The Seahorse II, the first 81-meter flybridge schooner delivered in 2020, and its under-construction sistership, provide the blueprint for Trident 810’s ‘proven architecture’. The new platform offers a shorter lead time of around three years, while still offering wide customisation options.

Shaking up the industry even further, Royal Huisman’s Trident 810 focuses on automation, simplified handling, and lower energy consumption as its core elements, a significant move towards the brand’s larger sailing R&D efforts.

Though the number of yachts under construction has stabilised, their average lengths have continued to grow, spurred by improvements in hybrid propulsion, interest in long-range autonomy, and an emerging class of ownership. It’s an exciting time for the industry, with design boundaries being pushed and long-held norms being questioned. As brands like Royal Huisman forge ahead with their new concepts, it’s certain that the future of yacht sailing will be a spectacle to behold.
