High-Tech Bridge Refit Unveiled on the 97m Lürssen Superyacht Carinthia VII
One of the leading lights in the superyacht world, the 97.2-metre Lürssen vessel Carinthia VII, had recently added another feather to her extensively clad cap courtesy of a meticulous bridge refit. The process, undertaken at IGY Sète Marina in France, was expertly overseen by Ralph de Joode, founder of RYacht Monaco. With the invaluable assistance of Eekels Technology B.V., who chiefly contributed to the core systems installation, the bridge was given a swanky makeover featuring vital navigation and communication systems. Radio Zeeland facilitated the necessary package which boasted upgraded Furuno radars, ECDIS, an electronic logbook, AIS safety features, and seven 27-inch displays, among other modern amenities.
Bizzozero Cassina helmed the interior architecture of the bridge, beautifully aligning technical functionality with a crisp, contemporary aesthetic. The phenomenal Milan-based studio collaborated with the master crafters at Vedder to deliver the finished masterpiece; every tiny detail perfectly executed, from the carpentry to the console joinery and leather finishing.
This refit follows an ambitious transformation undertaken at the German yard Blohm + Voss, which lasted an impressive 300 days. The yacht’s ravishing new look turned heads at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show, yet another feather in Lürssen’s cap.
The sophisticated hardware aside, Carinthia VII received some luxurious additions in this refit. An 11-metre pool was introduced on the aft deck, while a high-tech gym was installed on the bridge deck, surrounded by six tonnes of removable glass panels. Moreover, the interior was remodelled extensively, ensuring a fresh look and maintaining certain historical elements, like original pieces of furniture and the unique wooden floors. As a result, the already impressive superyacht now has an even finer blend of luxury and functionality.
An important aspect of this refit, however, was the technical modifications that transitioned the yacht from private to commercial usage. As explained by Lürssen’s refit sales director, Alberto Perrone da Zara, such an endeavour requires proper understanding and review of regulations, followed by escalated negotiations with the class. Now, the grandeur of the Carinthia VII awaits her new commercial patrons, ready to offer an experience of a lifetime.
