A Spectacular Conclusion to the Hamble Winter Series 2025; Sailing Grand Slam Unveils Planned Olympic-Class Series for 2026

Published: 02 Dec 2025
An exciting finale to the Hamble Winter Series 2025 crackles with possibilities. As that chapter ends, Sailing Grand Slam 2026 has big plans on the horizon.

Exactly as forecast, the last Sunday of the 2025 Hamble Winter Series brought sunshine despite the chill in the air and mild 9-11 knots westerly. Aided by Commodore James Lutley, Kathryn Clark led the team in setting up an enthralling round-the-cans course. However, a dip in the breeze necessitated minor adjustments. Thankfully, the reduced distance didn’t prove a dampener, as the breeze returned just in time for a spectacular start.

Everyone could feel the excitement of this concluding series, with heated competition for the overall results. In the IRC 3 category, Protis, Team Hamble bagged the first spot, and Alice, younger daughter of absent skipper Ian, aided Banter to a commendable second position. An aviation sight, the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales returning to Portsmouth added to the day’s drama. Akin to everyone else, they too were wrapping up early for Christmas.

This magnificent cascade of events promises an exhilarating sailing future, allowing sailors, enthusiasts, and spectators alike to ride the high tides of thrill and adventure.
