A Look into the Mysterious 140m Feadship Flagship Superyacht and the Launch of the Exceptional 80m Project 826
On the waterfronts of the Netherlands, something extraordinary is taking shape - the flagship superyacht project of famed shipbuilder, Feadship. Measuring a formidable 140 metres, this mysterious vessel known only as hull 831, has been spotted for the first time, eliciting much intrigue amongst onlookers. The bow alone bespeaks the magnitude of the project, and anticipation is building for its expected completion in 2029.
Alblasserdam’s NMC facilities saw the first section of the yacht emerging with much aplomb. From there, the components will journey on to Greenport Rotterdam where the build will continue with steel and aluminium. Project specifics remain cloaked in secrecy, though estimates suggest an impressive interior volume of 11,025GT. Once completed, hull 831 is anticipated to exceed Feadship’s current flagship, Breakthrough, by a staggering 21.2 metres.
The exterior design work of Malcolm McKeon bestows on Thalassa an appearance of high-performance sails, emphasised by a sharp plumb bow, a widened hull, gently curved windows, and slender lines that scoop the ocean waves. This yacht’s interiors, construed by Milanese M2Atelier, remain undisclosed, yet whispers of a contemporary design, steeped in warmth and relaxation, are seeping through.
The highlight of Project 826 is its expansive beach club, the largest ever created by Feadship. Spreading across two tiers over 165 square meters, this open-plan design sports a chic, relaxed lounge with a bar and teak-covered hatches doubling as terraces over water. Nothing impedes the bite-sized glimpses of the passing panorama, thanks to the absence of a bulky hull structure. Feadship has pioneered a powerful new gear system for opening and closing hatches fitted within the very doors themselves.
Apart from these alluring features, touches of luxury weave their way into Project 826 with a main deck pool lounge hosting a glass-bottomed pool shining light into the beach club below. A state-of-the-art gym, a massage room with fold-out terraces, and a watersports area add to the allure of this magnificent vessel. It is no surprise then, that Feadship describes the on-board experience as one centred around ‘space, light and connection’.
