Reimagining the Azimut Grande Trideck: Inside m2Atelier's Luxurious Yet Unassuming Design Approach

Italian design firm m2Atelier, together with Azimut, heralds a new era in yacht design with the reinvention of the Azimut Grande Trideck.

Sailing into a fresh design horizon, Italian yacht artisan Azimut joined forces with design mavericks Marco Bonelli and Marijana Radovic from m2Atelier. Their mission? To reimagine the Grande 30M model, pushing boundaries in yacht design and giving birth to a new kind of luxury. Giving centre stage to ‘barefoot luxury’, an innovative approach that prioritises comfort and chic, the design duo proposes an interior that is simultaneously sophisticated and subtly understated. Their debut creation together, the Azimut Grande Trideck, arrived at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival. A majestic vessel with an interior that honours the modern yacht owner’s desire for simplicity and pleasure, and with 17 of its kind already making waves, the latest reincarnation has some large sea boots to fill. Through an exclusive conversation with the team, the roots of this new design philosophy are unveiled. The Grande series renovation marked a transition from a long-term partnership with Salvagni Architetti. While the search for a new design partner may have been challenging for Azimut, landing on m2Atelier was a natural choice. Their reputation for modernising sailing yacht interiors in a delicately balanced manner resonated with Azimut’s own ethos of creating a harmonised experience, from the architectural layout to the smallest details. Unveiling the Azimut Grande Trideck’s interior, m2Atelier’s focus on the modern client is palpable. Aiming to keep up with the evolving yacht owner profile, they questioned the current landscape and pondered about what they could bring to the table. The answer was an unpretentious, convivial, and comfort-centric interior. They created a setting that is indulgent yet humble, encapsulating the ‘barefoot luxury’ essence down to the last detail. Particularly noteworthy is the layout of the master cabin. Avoiding the monotonous en suite doors found in every yacht, the designers envisaged an open space with a spirited yet restful vibe. The centrepiece of this design renaissance is the Azimut Grande Trideck’s famed windows. Recognising the potential of these beautiful features, m2Atelier incorporated a combination of matte and reflective surfaces and a unique double-layered ceiling to maximize light and catalyse an ambiance of a veranda by the sea. Juxtaposing the modern client’s shifting preferences with Azimut’s distinguished legacy, m2Atelier’s refreshing take on yacht design has set a new standard in the industry. It’s a demonstration of a visionary approach to luxury, making a bold statement of understated elegance that’s both refreshing and inspiring.
