Turkish Yard RMK Marine and Design Studio Hot Lab Offer Triple Treat with New Explorer Yacht Concept

Turkish shipbuilder RMK Yachts together with Hot Lab design studio unveils Petra - a flexible 50-metre expedition yacht concept, designed to adapt to diverse ocean lifestyles.

In a match made to navigate the high seas, Turkish yard RMK Yachts and Milan-based design studio Hot Lab have birthed a remarkable concept: the 50-metre explorer Petra. This vessel pushes the envelope, veering from the traditional monolithic ship design by offering three distinct versions, each catering to unique owner preferences. Anchoring on flexibility, Petra introduces an unprecedented era of personalised maritime adventures.

First in the trio is the Aura. Described as the ‘most lifestyle-oriented’ design, Aura is for the ones at sea who prize comfort, warmth, and social cohesion. It sets the stage for relaxation and features an additional guest room, increased communal spaces, and a lower deck designated for entertainment.

Last but not least on the offering lineup is Infinite. Reflecting its name, the version is designed for endless sea adventures by merging generous spatial capacity with flexibility. In its repertoire are explorer must-haves – an ice class notation, helideck, abundant tender and crane capacity, water sports storage, optional hybrid propulsion and not to mention, the potential to conquer polar regions and transoceanic routes.

Each of the Petra trio is a unique interpretation of seafaring life. As Cuneyt Okcu, director of RMK Yachts, puts it, the Petra series is a flexible platform that accommodates an array of maritime lifestyles. The goal? To enable each vessel to become a reflection of the owner’s personality and preferences.

The robust Petra will flaunt a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and teak decks. Thanks to her explorer soul, she’ll offer a range of around 4,000 nautical miles at a maximum speed of 16 knots. She’s further designed to transport and house large tenders, with fold-down bulwarks in her tender garage morphing into a beach club. Inside, the Petra is dressed in natural woods, sophisticated stones, leathers, and textured fabrics – chosen for their lasting quality and comforting appeal.

The creation of the Petra series indeed signals a bold, personal, and flexible approach to yacht design. It represents a fresh start for explorers on the high seas and sets sail towards an intriguing horizon in yachting.
