The impressive 117-metre Lürssen superyacht Boardwalk is ready to embark on her maiden voyage. Fresh from the company’s shipyard in Bremen, Germany, the yacht was commissioned in 2022 by an American owner. Throughout the build, the owner was actively involved in the design process, ensuring every element of the yacht’s structure and spatial aspects were meticulously refined. The yacht’s design was a collaborative work of art. Frank Woll’s classically-inspired lines sculpt the exterior while the interior décor results from a team up with the late Amy Halffman, Suzanne Glover and Teresa Francis. As Woll declared, ’the finest architects are in nature.’ He took inspiration from the seascape’s agile marine life, crafting Boardwalk to have fluid and streamlined geometry. Luxurious living is at the heart of the Boardwalk, with 5,602GT of living space. High gloss mahogany, polished steel and complex double-convex forms give a distinguished finish to the interior. Innovative lighting extends the sensation of movement inside, magnifying its allure. Created as a familial sanctuary at sea, the expansive decks accommodate multiple entertainment areas. Two helipads, a large pool with a neighbouring Jacuzzi, and a sizeable beach club provide various spots to unwind. One of the key features is a retractable section over the stairwell, allowing it to be hermetically sealed when not in use, a first for Lürssen yachts. In terms of accommodation, the Boardwalk hosts 11 cabins. The foremost is an opulent VIP suite complete with an onyx-finished en suite and a private lounge overlooking the bow. The other cabins have direct access to wide side decks, creating large private terraces for each. Whether you want to marvel at the top-of-the-line engine room with its glass-walled catwalk or relax in a cinema or spa, there’s much to be enjoyed aboard Boardwalk. Peter Lürssen comments, ‘our single objective as a shipyard is to translate a vision into an operational vessel.’ He believes that Boardwalk has surpassed expectations and is a true milestone for Lürssen.
