It was a spectacular weekend on the serene waters of Rutland Sailing Club as youthful energy, tactical prowess and seafaring acumen converged on the stage of the Optimist UK Team Racing Championship 2026.
Despite the repellent drizzle that greeted the sailors at the start of the weekend, the bountiful warmth and exhilaration of competition took center stage as 24 ambitious young sailors lined up in anticipation on the glittering expanse of the lake. With a crisp 15 knots of wind, the stage was set for a thrilling contest.
Highly competitive rounds of races were orchestrated by the adept command of Brenda Davies and the hard work of her skilled race committee, culminating in a total of 60 high-stakes races over the two-day event.
A thrilling wave of competition is soon to hit the Spanish shores as Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja prepares to host the much-anticipated Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja 2026. The regatta, a children’s sailing event, is scheduled from Thursday 29th January to Sunday 1st February. The gathering will bring together the crème-de-la-crème of Optimist sailors both on the national and international levels.
The event is expected to serve not only as a platform for high-level competition but also as a vibrant display of maritime spirit, hosting over 400 sailors from 28 different nations. To add to the excitement, Patricia Quesada, representing the luxury brand Euromarina, emphasized the significant visibility that the regatta will bring to the brand, being a showcase of the Costa Blanca’s sport, gastronomy and lifestyle.
