BPI Series 2026 Showcases Sailing Prowess and Spirit at the Subic Regatta
The BPI Series 2026, Subic Regatta proved to be an adrenaline-fuelled rollercoaster for sailing fanatics, painting a vibrant picture of aggressive competition and sportsmanship under the keen eye of Race Officer Simon James. Anchoring at the windward/leeward course near Mayanga to Kalaklan, salute to the sailors and their ability to navigate the 1.4 nm leg smoothly.
A curious incident took place at the IRC division start. If one’s hearing was sharp enough, they could detect a significant crunch as Centennial III attempted to overtake Belatrix, only to discover a stubborn bowsprit barring the way. All altercation was elegantly dealt with, possibly due to Centennial’s owner, Judes Echauz of Standard Insurance, maintaining an aura of gentlemanly dignity.
The stage of the IRC race was decisively claimed by Ridgely Balladares and Centennial VII, emerging triumphant after a mere 55 minutes. Selma Star, the last boat to return, added a regal note to the race with a leisurely finish 34 minutes later. An underdog triumph ensued when James Villareal’s Raw Honey clinched the victory on corrected time, leading Belatrix by a mere 22 seconds.
The BPI Series 2026, Subic Regatta showcased a feast of sailing talent, acting as both a thrilling spectacle and a testament to the skill and grit of the participants.
