The magnificently designed Lürssen superyacht, Pelorus, has now been listed for sale. Renowned names in yachting such as Tim Heywood, Terence Disdale, and Lürssen are behind this 5,403GT vessel’s design and construction. Delivered in 2003, it held the 11th position as the largest yacht in the world and was the flagship of the German shipyard fleet. In recent years, significant refits have induced the addition of a second helipad and regular maintenance work aligned with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) class survey requirements. The vessel currently enjoys a clean status with no recommendations. Following its meticulous preservation, Pelorus now awaits its new owner with an asking price of €160,000,000.
An exciting day unfolded at the waters of Burghfield Sailing Club for the National 12 Sprint Series. The dramatically changing weather, shifting from breezy to alarmingly stormy to sunny and tranquil, and finally bouts of dramatic hail, all within a few hours orchestrated a high-stakes, unforeseeable and competitive environment that tested the sailors at every turn. This unpredictability led to some nerve-wracking moments across the fleet, plunging the race into a heart-thumping rollercoaster ride.
As the forecast hinted at escalating, the sailors were filled with anticipation, all set to embark on an adventurous voyage. The breeze, blowing directly over the clubhouse, added an immediate challenging premise. A boat capsized nearly instantaneously, paving way for the characteristic fickle Burghfield wind to take charge. This resulted in the fleet routinely exhibiting a contrasting approach to every leg, leading to a thrilling contest till the end.
