Force 4 Chandlery Sponsors Exciting Turns in Second Week of Hamble Winter Series 2025

Published: 15 Oct 2025
Action-packed and dramatic, the Hamble Winter Series 2025 sailed into its second week, challenging crews with lacklustre winds and spring tides, and ultimately drawing victories from the jaws of defeat.

With the promise of an eventful second week, the Hamble Winter Series 2025, sponsored by Force 4 Chandlery, did not disappoint. Winds, or rather the lack thereof, emerged once more as the main talking point of the weekend. But, sailing enthusiasts, like the indomitable Peter Bateson, PRO, were far from discouraged. Through motivational messages channeled over WhatsApp, he rallied the fleet, ending with the energizing words, “We are certainly going to go out and try!” His team’s commendable power of positive thinking led to the successful completion of the five-race programme of the Hamble IRC Autumn Championship.

In the IRC 3 category, victory seemed to have chosen favorites. Protis, Quarter ton, Team Hamble unusually achieved three first-place finishes, with Quokka 9, Half ton, James Crew securing three second places. And in the IRC 2 category, the J92s Simon Shillaker’s ‘Jambo’ led with ten points, closely trailed by the J109s, Jukebox and Jeanie, managed by the smart duo John Smart and Rosie Berry. Taking the top spot in the IRC 1 category was the Mako, Far East 28R, operated by Ian and Imogen Watkins, with another impressive tally of three first-place finishes.
