Bay of Pärnu, Estonia, delivered an unforgettable third stage of the Ice Sailing Cup Series, becoming a Baltic beacon for the sport.

From the 7th to 8th of February 2026, the shores of Pärnu Bay in Estonia magnificently staged the third stop in the esteemed Estonian Ice Sailing Cup Series. This thrilling competition drew in the region’s most formidable ice sailors, consolidating the event’s stature as a premier sailing showdown within the Baltic states.

The event successfully attracted robust participation, recording a total of 49 competitors. They braced the icy Baltic waters in several international ice sailing classes such as DN, Ice Optimist, Monotype XV and the DN Junior category. A particularly positive sign was the weighty youth contingent, indicative of the sport’s progressive surge amongst emerging sportsmen.

The scale of talent and participation from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania underscored this regatta’s informal status as the Baltic Ice Sailing Championship. Testament to Estonia’s commitment to the sport, the event was seamlessly executed with the Race Committee going above and beyond to maintain an efficient and high-quality sporting environment.

The conditions were icing on the cake, with about 40 cm of solid Baltic ice punctuated with soft snowy pockets, challenging the competitors and keeping them on their toes. A consistent north-easterly wind on both days maintained the thrill and adrenaline of the competition, while the pristine Pärnu Bay offered a perfect backdrop to this icy spectacle.

The DN Class, often recognized as the crème de la crème of international ice sailing, saw the 2025 European Champion, Rasmus Maalinn, holding his ground with another hard-fought victory, cementing his status as a challenging contender to beat. Runners-up included Eigo Helimets and Hardi Laurits, rounding off an impressive DN fleet of 23 sailors.
