The Viking Marine Frostbite Series 2 recently unfolded under invigorating conditions at the Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, offering participants a thrilling sailing experience.

The East Coast was recently left ravished by ghastly sea squalls. However, on 8th February, despite the long shadow of the storm, the sky over Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club greeted the Viking Marine Frostbite Series 2 participants with optimism. Indeed, the day saw the mercury touch double digits alongside favorable sailing conditions, including a level of sunshine that belied the grey dawn. As the sailors poured in, preparations for the day’s races began in earnest. The conditions were so congenial, there were speculations about conducting three races.

Launching the race fest, a three-lap Olympic course was set. However, the PY Fleet was a bit eager at the start, causing a general recall. Meanwhile, ILCA 7s and 4s made a great start while the ILCA 6s meeting the same fate as the PY fleet. The tension in the air was palpable as the race officer reset the line and initiated a U-Flag start for both fleets all in the spirit of healthy competition.

In the PY Fleet, notably, the Fireball crewed by Frank Miller and Grattan Donnelly led by a clear minute over the Aero 7 command by Thomas Chaix. Their impressive performance strengthened the spirit of the event, making it a truly memorable day at sea.
