The spirited DF95 Spring Series at East Kent Radio Sailing Club moves into its second week, shaped by exciting wins, close races, and surprise upsets.

Week 2 of the DF95 Spring Series at East Kent Radio Sailing Club offered up a thrilling spectacle of sailing skill and competitive spirit. The event was marked by fierce winds and stormy weather, adding to the challenge faced by the participating sailors. But even as storms lashed towards South East Kent for the second Spring series event, enthusiasm remained undeterred with 12 competitors entering the fray and 13 races run in conditions that varied from a shifty 5 knots beginning, building up to a hefty 15 knots by 1 pm.

As the series developed, beloved racing duo of Dave and Adrian took over, trading top spots in the following races, while Alan persisted in the third place. Another noteworthy performance came from Rob Owens, who managed a handsome third in race 4 and a second in race 6 before eventually falling back.

As winds picked up again post lunch, the battle for supremacy took on renewed vitality. Navigating the winds became a skill-testing endeavour, shaking up the leaderboard even further. Dave revelled in the challenging conditions, snapping up top spots in subsequent races. Adrian, Peter, and Alan variously claimed the second positions, with third places being divided among Colin, Simon Thornton, Adrian, and surprise entrant Ed Coxon.

A resurgent performance from Dave saw him win the final race, but it was too little too late to surpass Adrian, who marked his stellar performance with 16.4 points against Dave’s 20. At mid-fleet, an absorbing dual unfolded between Andrew Nichols and Spencer Pope, which concluded in a thrilling tie.

The second week in the DF95 Spring Series at East Kent Radio Sailing Club proved to be an adventure at sea. The thrills and spills atop the waters, coloured by unyielding competitiveness and sharp sailing skills, made for an unforgettable sailing saga.
