The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, a global phenomenon and an oceanic adventure like no other, is set to exhilarate the Whitsundays once again.

A breathtaking voyage through perilous, yet enchanting seas; a fusion of determination, camaraderie, and courage on-board serviceable vessels; an unfathomable globe-spanning journey that strikes a unique balance between seasoned sailors and wildly adventurous novices - this is the essence of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

The Clipper Race, distinguished by its recruitment of brave souls from varied walks of life – from the inexperienced seafarer to the master mariner – is en route back to the harbours of paradise. Specifically, the race fleet is slated to return to Airlie Beach, Queensland, this coming January, as part of the leg of their race labelled the ‘Australian Coast-to-Coast’.

Arriving in mid-January, the fleet will stay in Airlie Beach for over a week, not only for repairs and resupply but also to delve into the vibrant local culture and experiences. The impending visit of this global showcase anticipates stirring up the local economy, bringing benefits to the local tours, eateries, accommodation, and overall experience.

To facilitate the immersive experience of the crews and their supporters, a variety of community events have been organised, including the beloved Open Boat Days, providing a rare insight into the sailor’s life onboard the 70-foot ocean racing yachts.

What’s also noteworthy is the precious opportunity that the Clipper Race presents to the Whitsundays. Proclaimed as the host of the sailing events for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Clipper’s spotlight on the region’s capacity to accommodate world-class sailing events could not come at a better time.

The preparations have begun, the anticipation is high, and ‘paradise’ awaits the energetic buzz and thrilling action that comes in tow with The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
