Get a First Glimpse of the Revitalized Naval Ship JeMaSa: An Over-the-top Luxury Charter with a Rich Naval Legacy
The renowned brokerage firm Y.CO has ignited excitement in the yachting world, offering a detailed insight into the new face of the 52m luxury explorer yacht JeMaSa, formerly known as Plan B. The former naval ship has undergone a transformative metamorphosis, shedding its military sphere to don an opulent guise, boasting a magnificently refurbished interior, resplendent exterior, and high-end technical upgrades.
The pivotal focal point of JeMaSa’s reinvigoration, a painstaking year-long project conducted at Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) in Australia, included a complete redesign of the interior and exterior, along with extensive engineering work. This magnificent transformation extended to the addition of a modern swim platform, propelling the yacht’s length overall from 49.9m to an impressive 52m.
Originally constructed as an Australian naval ship in 1973, JeMaSa has a steel hull and a steel superstructure, a vast beam of 10 metres, a draught of 3.2 metres and an expansive volume of 746GT. Misha Merzliakov was chosen to redesign both the interior and exterior, while Shaun Phelps of Periscope assumed responsibility for naval architecture.
The endeavour of transforming the battlescarred naval vessel into a five-star global cruising motor yacht involved extensive work. ‘The project involved stripping the vessel back to bare metal, followed by a comprehensive redesign,’ elaborated refit manager Juan Koegelenberg. The refit also included fresh upholstery, innovative wall and ceiling panels, custom beds, bespoke furniture, and marble-top bathrooms, breathing new life into the vessel.
With the all-new De Villiers-designed exterior featuring a subtle military-influenced profile nestled under the brilliance of a radiant white superstructure and a light-grey hull, JeMaSa’s allure is hard to resist. Moreover, ample natural light filters through large-sized glazed windows, courtesy of Integ Marine Windows, enhancing the plush interiors with mesmerizing panoramic views.
Andrew Chapman, GCCM’s COO, expressed pride in collaborating again with Juan and his specialized companies, underscoring the immense experience they bring to the table in transforming capacious vessels.
JeMaSa’s revamped interiors now radiate a modern, light aesthetic, incorporating organic materials. The luxury yacht also boasts seven adaptable cabins, two of which can be converted between twin and king configurations. In addition, a cinema room, sauna, and games room amplify the grandeur of the ship, promising enhanced experiences for guests onboard. This astonishing transformation underscores the tremendous potential hidden within aged naval vessels, waiting to be discovered, liberated, and converted into luxury haven on the seas.
