Exploring SF Marina's Burgeoning Projects in Anguilla and Panama: An Inside Look at Port Nimara and Port Amador
SF Marina, established in 1918, is a frontrunner in marina design. Celebrated for its advanced floating breakwaters and concrete docks, the company propels its vision forward with two ambitious projects - Port Nimara in Anguilla and Port Amador in Panama.
The CEO of SF Investments and the driving force behind the development, David Mizrahi, shed light on these projects. Starting with Port Nimara, located on the beautiful island of Anguilla, Mizrahi elaborated on the strategic selection of the site. Tucked away in a secluded area, away from busy resorts, and nestled between renowned luxury resorts of Cap Juluca and Altamer Villas, Port Nimara capitalises on its prime location. It seeks to offer a unique and effortless experience for visitors.
With an uptick in yacht traffic in recent years, the Caribbean has seen an increased demand for marinas. Anguilla, lacking a marina until now, presents an ideal prospect for meeting this demand. A notable feature of Port Nimara is that it is being built on private land. This implies that berth owners can buy the berths outright, a rarity in a region where berths are usually offered as 30- to 50-year concessions that tend to depreciate over time.
Private ownership also promises long-term security and offers the potential to generate revenue through rent when not in use. The objective, Mizrahi highlights, is to link the three distinct jurisdictions of St Martin, St Barths and Anguilla - making the most of each one’s diverse offerings.
Additionally, Mizrahi emphasises the importance of understanding the marine world, instead of considering marinas as mere real estate projects. Port Nimara, he assures, would feel like a lifestyle hub, offering an array of activities for guests, from hiking and tennis to golf at the nearby Greg Norman-designed course at Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club. Sailboat racing - Anguilla’s national sport - will also hold a prominent place, truly heralding a new era in marina design.
