Revolutionary Second 39m Swan 128 Maxi Yacht, Raijin, Unveiled by Nautor Swan: Ushering a New Era of Sustainable Sailing

Nautor Swan, a distinguished Finnish boatyard, has launched Raijin, the second yacht in the Swan 128 maxi yacht series. The 39-meter sailing yacht graced its birth waters in Pietarsaari, Finland, joining its predecessor BeCool, which saw a successful launch last year. Raijin, named after the Japanese god of thunder, lightning, and storms, showcases impressive design and technology enhancements from its predecessor.

Custom interior adaptations and an enhanced energy management system are some of the many changes seen in Raijin. Delivering on their vision of self-sufficiency at sea, Nautor Swan has developed a Dual Energy Technology in collaboration with energy technology company Danfoss. This advanced innovation optimises energy production and conservation, lowering fuel utilisation and emissions. Under sail, energy can be generated and stored for later use in electric propulsion and onboard systems, allowing a break from generator use while anchoring.

The Swan 128, according to Nautor Swan CEO Giovanni Pomati, symbolizes the pinnacle of their evolution. The model embodies the clean design lines, the comfort of its interiors and the broad application of innovative technologies. The commencement of this second hull with its Dual Energy Technology underlines their vision of completely self-sufficient sailing, and aims for an advance in nautical miles without depending on diesel engines.

Raijin is the second-largest model in Nautor Swan’s range, placing just below the new 43.5-meter Alloy 44 series. It accompanies the 88, 98, 108 and 120 models in the fleet. Lucio Micheletti at Micheletti + Partners, the styling mastermind of the series, has curated a design that’s lean, light and practical. Misa Poggi, who worked alongside Antonie Bertherat and Heini Gustafsson of the shipyard’s interior team on the second hull’s interiors, has chosen a polished palette of matte finish crown-cut oak.
