A spirited display unfolded on the waters as Bembridge and Medway Yacht Club hosted their mid-June sailing bonanzas, replete with high winds and impressive displays of seamanship.
The waves roared, the winds howled, and the sailing boats cut through, turning the sea into a grand arena. The mid-June weekend brought spectators and sailors to Bembridge Sailing Club and Medway Yacht Club for their eponymous keelboat regattas. Competitors patiently waited on Saturday for the strong southwesterly winds to subside at the Bembridge Sailing Club. The wind finally dropped to a more manageable strength for Sunday’s races, with Redwings and One-Designs heading out to commence the vibrant race. After a thrilling competition, the Evert de Kort Cup was swept away by Toucan, despite an unexpected halyard break on Harlequin, initially leading the race.
