Sail Port Stephens 2026 Raises Bar with Inclusion of Cats, Keelboats and More in its Regatta Lineup
Marking nearly two decades in existence, the notorious Sail Port Stephens regatta is gearing for its most impressive edition yet in 2026, with expanded offerings sure to delight sailing enthusiasts. It’s no longer business as usual; an assembly of yachts in their hundreds, engaging international and interclub challenges, world-class boats, and grand events featuring multihulls and luxury yachts, all embellish the regatta’s lineup.
The Commodores Cup Passage Series is set to kick off an eclectic week, with over a hundred yachts contending on Port Stephen’s glittery waters. The second week is an adrenaline rush with a 3-day grand-prix regatta. Consider the luxury of ‘Cat Stephens’ for cruising multihulls and a Super Racer Cruiser Division for sailboats over 50ft which will launch and finish off Nelson Bay. Off-beach dinghy sail will herald the Bay Sailing Centre. All these will culminate in the Super Series, surely a sight to behold.
The wellbeing and involvement of the local community are paramount. Showcasing this is the Sail Port Stephens Street Party by Port Stephens Council, liaising sailing revelry with community participation.
The event owes its upward trajectory to the sustained backing from Destination NSW, Port Stephens Council, Pantaenius Australia, amongst others. Ensuring this is a seamless experience for patrons while engaging local support, are topmost on the organisers’ list, as per Regatta Director Paul O’Rourke.
With an eye for more competition, the introduction of the catamaran and inshore categories bolster on-water dynamism and foster local involvement. The competitors will keep abreast of event-backstage proceedings, including daily schedules and course intel, via the Sail Port Stephens WhatsApp group.
Sail Port Stephens 2026 is now accepting early bird entries. Hold your breath for this showstopper event, the winds are changing and a storm of exhilaration is on its way!
