The waters off the coast of Monaco will bubble with innovation on 8-11th July 2026 as the 13th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge returns at the renowned Yacht Club de Monaco.

Coming to life in the scintillating waters off Monaco’s coast is the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. Marking its 13th edition, this annual event serves as an incubator of ideas and innovation for tomorrow’s marine propulsion and fuel. Students, universities, technical colleges, and industry professionals from 21 nations have been drawn to this ‘outdoor laboratory,’ creating a platform for exploration and innovation for alternative propulsion systems and fuels in the boating sector. In an engaging competition, participants present an array of ingenious solutions; from advanced-stage optimisations to newly tested prototypes. The endeavors of these young inventors and experienced professionals have resulted in creations such as predictive energy management from HydroVinci in France, and bio-sourced materials from Team Sea Sakthi in India. With four unique categories to compete in, participants can push boundaries in dedicated areas. The AI Class, premiering in 2025, exists to drive artificial intelligence for boats. The Energy Class and SeaLab Class enable testing of electric, hybrid, and emerging energy sources. The Open Sea Class serves as an exhibition of the industry’s zero-emission creations, with its wing open for entries until mid-May. Off water, participants engage in Tech Talks, the Corporate Mentoring Programme, and a Job Forum, valuable platforms for interacting with professionals in the maritime sector and gaining further industry insights. With this event, the bustling city-state of Monaco cements its commitment to a sustainable maritime sector, emphasizing ingenuity and collaboration in its drive to become the Capital of Advanced Yachting.
