Belgium Ocean Racing has achieved an awe-inspiring accomplishment by shattering the Class40 24-hour World Distance Record on the Globe40.

Magnificent waves, unyielding spirits, and infinite boundaries of the sea witnessed a benchmark achievement in the world of sailing recently as Belgium Ocean Racing smashed the Class40 24-hour World Distance Record. This groundbreaking achievement was unveiled on the adrenaline–charged battlefield of the Globe40.

Leading this exceptional venture was Jonas Gerckens’ Belgian team, comprising of the indomitable sailors Benoit Hantzperg and Renaud Dehareng. The formidable threesome showcased an extraordinary performance, championing a mesmerising distance of 452.22 nautical miles in a mere span of 24 hours. Average speed? A dazzling 18.84 knots.

This triumph has not merely rewritten history. It has raised the bar of speed and endurance, breaking the previous record held by Guillaume Pirouelle since July 2024, situated at 440.2 miles. That’s a resounding leap of 12 miles!
