Unveiled Splendour: Frida, the 55m Heesen Steel Superyacht Embarks on North Sea Trials

Published: 25 Apr 2026
Frida, the 55-metre Steel superyacht crafted by Heesen Yachts, has started its inaugural sea trials in the North Sea.

From the innovative shipyard of Heesen Yachts, headquartered in Oss, the Netherlands, comes an exciting announcement. Frida, the 55-metre Steel series superyacht, has made her first sea trials voyage in the choppy waters of the North Sea, heralding an important milestone in her journey towards delivery, expected to take place in time for the summer cruising season.

Construction of this maritime marvel began back in 2023, launching from the yard in August 2025. The distinctive ‘shark tooth’ superstructure is the masterwork of Omega Architects, an emblematic feature of the Heesen’s Steel series. Merging seamlessly with floor-to-ceiling windows, light floods into the lavish 760GT interiors, forming an atmosphere reminiscent of the ‘golden age of ocean travel’.

Silvia Margutti, lead architect of the studio, lauds the interior as a ‘modern interpretation of traditional maritime heritage’. The design starkly contrasts light hues against dark woods, echoing contemporary design trends.

Accommodation is extensively planned within Frida, with six plush cabins and airy lounging spaces. The full-beam owner’s apartment boasts a generous en suite, replete with a private study and veranda. The lower deck houses four guest cabins, with an additional versatile cabin located on the bridge deck.

The exterior matches the interiors in terms of grandeur. Generous spaces befitting a 55-metre vessel include a sundeck equipped with a sizable whirlpool, bar and multiple lounging arenas. Beneath lies a skylounge connecting to an aft terrace and beach club, providing direct access to the water from a large swim platform.

Frida utilises high-performance MTU 4000 M63 engines, enabling a top speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. Abiding by the ‘Large Yacht Code 3’, Frida complies stringently with the highest commercial standards, further enabled by a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system that ensures full compliance with IMO Tier III emission regulations.
