Shenzhen Dapeng Cup Sailing Regatta: A New Day for FD Future Boats and Youth Sailing in China
The captivating coasts of Shenzhen gave a warm welcome to the FD Future Boats in the 11th edition of the Shenzhen Dapeng Cup Sailing Regatta. This event, hosted by the Seven Star Yacht Club, saw an impressive showing of more than 80 young sailors across 11 competition groups.
Shenzhen, China’s hub of competitiveness and innovation, proudly carried the flag of sailing sports throughout the regatta. Its southeastern district, Dapeng, surrounded by magnificent seas and harbors, offered a beautiful backdrop lending the regatta an aura of awe-inspiring grace.
It was a carnival of sorts, not limited just to the sailing competition. Keel boats regattas, maritime seminars, equipment exhibitions, and music festivals left every participant, youth and adults alike, exhilarated.
The boats, a product of international co-operation featuring expertise from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, and local knowledge from China, are designed to aid ease of navigation and high performance. Sixuan Lu, a young sailor from Hong Kong, expressed his excitement about sailing these new vessels, applauding their stability, speed, and hassle-free features.
Looking ahead, Shenzhen holds ambitious plans for promoting sailing, not just within its borders, but also across the greater bay areas, including Hong Kong and Macau. The successful debut of the FD Future Boats is seen as a major stepping-stone towards fulfilling these ambitions. This event marked a marriage of international collaboration and local passion, promising exciting times ahead for sailing enthusiasts in China.
