Silverado, the Icon of American Cruises, Sold - Discover the Legacy of the Prestigious Motor Yacht
Silverado, a gem in the fleet of luxury motor yachts, brought to life by the prodigious Willard Boat Works in 1974, embarked on a new voyage with her recent acquisition. Her brokers, Robert Petrina and Mike Hickey from Northrop & Johnson, announced the sale earlier this year.
Noteworthy for her long-range offshore cruising capabilities, the Silverado boasts an all-American cruising pedigree. This yacht distinguished herself among the most significant fibreglass yachts of her epoch, showcasing exquisite design both inside and out, courtesy of acclaimed designer, John Harris. The unique build of the yacht, underscored by her proven track record, elevates the Silverado as a superior choice for maritime lovers.
The yacht elevates marine exploration with an uncommon in-hull underwater viewing platform that nurtures an expedition-centric vibe. A key feature of Silverado design is the embrace of natural light, flooding in via cavernous windows and portlights enhancing the interior aesthetic. They enhance the charm of the main saloon which comprises a card and game table as well as a full-service bar, and the formal dining area that is enriched by a scale model of Silverado herself.
The Silverado truly flaunts her glamour on the exterior. This yacht is a true adventurer’s paradise, boasting an enclosed covered aft deck, Portuguese bridge with observation area, integrated swim platform, and a deck space laden with all the seafaring toys and equipment. Easy offshore navigation is enabled by the dedicated navigation office and raised pilothouse.
Underpinning Silverado’s powerful performance are twin Caterpillar D349 main engines, allowing the vessel to cruise at a robust speed of 14 knots and reach a maximum speed of 17 knots. Outfitted with Koopnautic stabilisers, the yacht ensures smooth sailings under any sea conditions. Its robust construction, coupled with the displacement hull, ensures tranquil cruising conditions, guaranteeing a sublime yachting experience. The Silverado was last sold for an impressive $2,499,000, reaffirming its prestigious status among motor yachts.
