45m Royal Hakvoort Yacht Awatea Undergoes Grand Scale Enhancement at Balk Shipyard
Step aside and witness the majestic transformation of a marine masterpiece. The 45-meter Royal Hakvoort motor yacht, Awatea, has embarked upon its journey to Balk Shipyard, heralding a momentous overhaul. The approaching refit period will focus on both technical and aesthetic enhancements, revitalizing Awatea to its prime glory while keeping up with the modern demands of the yachting world. The revamp of her hull and superstructure will be accompanied by the installation of advanced alarm and monitoring as well as power control and monitoring systems.
Royal Hakvoort Shipyard launched Awatea in 2008, the largest yacht they had built at the time. Designed by Cor D. Rover, the yacht was deemed groundbreaking for carrying integrated technology, including web-based systems exemplified by VBH. Awatea is a showcase of harmonious juxtaposition where the interiors from Felix Buytendijk exude a ‘sailing yacht meets New England charm’ sensibility.
The Yard plays a monumental role in preserving, enhancing, and recrafting these magnificent vessels, and who better to undertake this mammoth task for Awatea? BOATPro reported that currently, Balk Shipyard has a 43.2-meter superyacht project, Yemaya, under construction. Also making headlines this year was the news of its acquisition by a Dutch entrepreneur. Awatea, in its new avatar, promises to kickstart a riveting new chapter in Balk Shipyard’s storied legacy.
