The Remarkable Rebirth of Halcyon: A Feadship Motor Yacht Transformed
The mesmerising Feadship Motor Yacht Halcyon has grace once again graced the waters after a detailed 14-month revamp programme at the builder’s original shed. The ship, which first hit the waters in 2001, returned to the yard’s facilities in Kaag, Netherlands, in May 2025, for a comprehensive makeover.
The refit operation encompassed a redesign of Halcyon’s stern arrangement, a complete repaint, and a series of impressive technical upgrades. As progress ensued, Feadship decided to expand the scope of renovations to allow the yacht to align with today’s standards. Now, the Halcyon stands as a marvel of structural, technical, mechanical, and cosmetic enhancements - a heavenly delight rebuilt from the inside out.
The living areas and crew accommodation, once designed by the famed John Munford, have seen a significant revamp. Cabins were refurbished, marbles restored, new blinds installed, and interior finishes renewed. The transformation extends to the near-complete reconfiguration of technical spaces and the engine room. Core systems were replaced, new generators were installed, and the main engines overhauled, all of which brought the Halcyon up to-date and compliant with present-day marine standards.
In conclusion, what initially began as a major refit catapulted into an all-encompassing modified new build, resulting in a classy and renewed Feadship, ready to sail on many successful cruises to come. Currently, the Halcyon is undergoing final commissioning and is scheduled for redelivery in July, following its sale in March 2025. This splendid transformation is an echo of the meticulous and intricate craftsmanship seen in Dutch shipbuilding industry.
