For over 20 years, the Fiumanka Race has been an emblematic spectacle in Rijeka, demonstrating the unifying force of the sea and the spirit of yachting culture in Croatia. The 26th edition of the race unfolded on the 14th of June, seeing an exciting turnout of 153 boats painting the Kvarner Bay’s canvas.

Organized in honor of Rijeka’s City Day and the feast of Saint Vitus, the Fiumanka Race adheres to a philosophy that amalgamates tradition and freedom with an open invitation in racing - Free to Join. Free to Enjoy. The 26th year saw a diverse group of participants, including hardened sport crews, family teams, and recreational sailors, all soaking in and contributing to the thrilling atmosphere.

The principal regatta unfurled at noon, marking a display of exceptional seamanship across all racing categories. Once again, PROSECCO.DOC - SHOCKWAVE 3 proudly sailed their Maxi class, successfully defending their title, and claiming the overall win at Fiumanka’s 26th race.

A unique aspect of this year’s race was the Media Regatta, wherein representatives from Croatian and international media engaged in a friendly competition. The local newspaper, Novi list, claimed the victory, reinforcing the power of storytelling in yacht racing and the sailing community.

However, the Fiumanka Race is more than just a regatta. The event held at the Gat pier also featured live concerts, local food, sustainability-focused activities, and a spectacular performance by Daleka Obala, making the night come alive with merriment and music.

Underlining its commitment to environmental responsibility, the event promoted the BACKTOBLU initiative, indicating the growing consciousness of preserving maritime environments within the sailing community.
