Its first appearance, in all its glory, was held at the Dubai boat show in February. The powercat’s dashing looks, sporting bold arrowhead stems above the waterline, and forward-raked bridge windows, offer a distinctly athletic option in comparison to the high-volume cruising catamarans usually seen from Sunreef’s yard.

Inside the cabin, the layout stays conventional yet stylish. A spacious aft lounge complements the amidships galley, and a two-seat helm console with the driver’s seat and wheel at the centreline. Two ensuite double cabins are situated, one in each hull, each with aft-facing beds. There’s also a snug crew cabin uniquely tucked away. Lastly, power comes from a pair of Volvo Penta D8 IPS-800s, guaranteeing a top speed of 35 knots and a rapid cruise of 24 knots. Adding to its silent prowess at anchor is a 15kWh lithium battery bank.

Already a dozen of these powercat gems have been sold, demonstrating an encouraging start to the Sunreef Ultima 55’s journey on the high seas.
