An Inside Look: Sunreef Yachts' Luxurious and Innovative First Ultima 88 Catamaran
Polish shipyard, Sunreef Yachts, offers a captivating peek into the opulence of its first Ultima 88 catamaran model: Wasabi. Crafted meticulously in the shipyard’s facilities in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, the vessel was announced as sold to powerboat racing champ Tim Ciasulli less than a year later at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. This Octo-marine marvel classifies as one among the six models in the Ultima line, which ranges between 13.7 metres and 36.4 metres, with the Ultima 88 sitting as the penultimate in size. An exemplar of Sunreef’s ‘forward-thinking vision’, the Ultima 88 blends groundbreaking ‘solar skin system’ technology with performance-tailored design and leading-edge aesthetics. This state-of-the-art ship is engineered with the agility and dynamics of the monohull, combined with the multihull’s space, stability, and shallow draught. Moored, Wasabi’s expansive bulwarks and rear garage space evolve it into a ’true waterside retreat’. The so-called ‘supercat’, with a 9.3-metre beam and spacious living quarters spanning 387 square metres, comfortably hosts 10 guests. With several interior layouts on offer, one of the standout choices comes with a full-beam master suite and accessible private sauna. A tour inside reveals a contemporary decor portfolio, with a neutral colour palette, light woods, marbles, and touches of black metals and rich, tan leathers. A relaxed sofa seating arrangement in the main saloon sits alongside an open galley and formal dining area, while below houses a selected full-beam master suite including a large en suite, a large double, and a twin room. Its deck comes fitted with additional lounge seating, a laid-back al fresco dining space, and an exterior helm station. Speaking about the Ultima 88, Sunreef founder and president, Francis Lapp, claims the catamaran as a testament to Sunreef’s pursuit of innovation, craftsmanship, and excellence, firmly stamping a stellar new chapter for the brand. This unveiling follows news of professional tennis player Carlos Alcaraz placing an order for a yacht from the same series.
