First Photographs Surface of Abeking & Rasmussen’s Mysterious 80m Superyacht Project 6516
The highly secretive superyacht project, known as Project 6516, has finally stepped out under the public gaze. The 79.9-metre vessel, being crafted at the renowned German shipyard of Abeking & Rasmussen, emerged for the first time on the Kiel Canal in Germany, apparently making its journey to the outfitting stage. This closely-hushed project was officially announced at a close-knit event marking the keel laying at G&K SteelCon’s facilities in Świnoujście, Poland, in December 2024. While the details of the new construction are sparse, it has been confirmed that a ‘well-known, UK-based design studio’ is spearheading the aesthetic presentation. The impressive vessel will also boast tenders, an assortment of water toys, and ‘modern, yet cosy’ interiors. This enigmatic masterpiece is following in the wake of the largest yacht ever built by the yard – the 118.2-metre Liva O. A yard spokesperson, speaking at the keel laying ceremony, assured that Project 6516 will carry forward the long-standing tradition of 80-metre projects, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Speaking about the rich legacy, the spokesperson expressed collective pride in being presented with the wonderful opportunity of constructing this exceptional yacht. The majestic Liva O, delivered back in December 2023, came with a wide array of striking design elements, including a Neptune lounge equipped with a 3.4-metre by 1.3-metre semi-submerged window. BOATPro, in their latest report, mention that the much-anticipated Project 6516 is earmarked for delivery in May 2027.
