Futuristic aspirations are being crafted into reality as expedition experts, Xplorer Yachts, have recently joined hands with the distinguished Turkish shipbuilder, Norse Shipyard. Their collaborative endeavour is giving birth to a remarkable nautical marvel: the world’s first wind-assisted hybrid expedition yacht, scheduled for delivery in late 2027. This innovative colossus is christened ‘Project MG’.
Project MG is charting its journey to become the crowning glory of a new series of semi-custom yachts, all conceptualized by the exceptionally creative minds at French studio VPLP Design. The groundbreaking design is designed to utilize wind power and generate electricity from solar and hydro-generators rested under the hull. This inventive blend ensures ‘zero emissions’ and ‘minimal underwater noise pollution’ promising an eco-friendly voyage. The wind power component is envisioned to reduce the yacht’s reliance on fossil fuels drastically - a riveting mark in sustainable sea exploration.
Famed for their maritime prowess, Dutch company Amels has yet again demonstrated expert craftsmanship with their latest venture - Project Tanzanite. This 120-metre long behemoth has grabbed the title of the largest Dutch-built motor yacht in existence, surpassing the company’s previous flagship, Here Comes The Sun, by an astonishing 31 metres. With craftsmanship that’s second to none, over the next year, more than 1,000 expert artisans will labor to ensure this mammoth vessel is ready to set sail by 2026.
Designed with elegance and luxury in mind, Project Tanzanite was last seen two years ago at the Damen Yachting’s renowned Vlissingen facility in the Netherlands. There, it was prepped and primed for the outfitting process. Damen Yachting, responsible for the naval architecture, worked hand in hand with Deeside Maritime, representing the client throughout the construction and final stages.
