UK Match Racing Qualifier 1: London Castaways Seals Win with Late Surge

It was a thrilling scene as eight teams took to the water at Queen Mary SC, hosted by Royal Thames YC, to compete in the UK Match Racing Qualifier 1 on the weekend of 21/22 February. All teams aimed to secure their spot in the highly-anticipated National Match Racing Championship Grand Final in the Autumn. The race was full of adrenaline, presenting challenges not just in team boat handling but also in strategic decision making. A double round robin intensify the competition, with rapid-fire races continually unfolding. While many of the early races were tight, Hamish Taylor’s team concluded Round Robin 1 undefeated, leaving lower places passionately contested.

Not to mention their participation in the Ocean Fifty Grand Prix at the beginning of the year, a memory they cherish as they sail through their seafaring journey.
