Cowes Week 2025, marking its 199th year, promises to be an exhilarating celebration of sailing excellence, set to unfold from Saturday, August 2, to Friday, August 8, on the iconic Solent waters off Cowes, Isle of Wight. Established in 1826, this prestigious regatta is the world’s longest-running sailing event, blending competitive racing with a vibrant social atmosphere, attracting around 1,000 boats, 8,000 competitors, and over 100,000 spectators. The event’s rich history and evolution from an elite pastime to an inclusive sport make it a cornerstone of the British sporting summer.

The Admiral’s Cup Returns: A New Chapter for the ‘Unofficial World Championship of Offshore Sailing’
After a long hiatus, one of the most iconic and prestigious events in the world of sailing is set to make its dramatic return: the Admiral’s Cup. Known as the “unofficial world championship of offshore racing”, the Admiral’s Cup will re-launch in Cowes, England—the spiritual home of competitive yachting—on 17th July 2025, running through to 1st August.

Less than two months now remain until the start of the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race, this year coinciding with the Royal Ocean Racing Club's centenary. Another huge fleet has entered. While 2023’s 50th edition of the event, that back in 1925 caused the RORC to be founded, saw a record 430 boats set sail, the 2025 entry list indicates that even this figure may be exceeded when the race starts from Cowes on 26 July, bound for Cherbourg-en-Cotentin via the famous Fastnet Rock off southwest Ireland.

Giovanni Lombardi Stronati has entered two boats for the 2025 Admiral’s Cup that will be competing under the burgee of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS). The YCCS team will consist of a brand new design, the Wallyrocket 51 for the big boat. The small boat will be a JPK 1180. Both boats are called Django.

The Tall Ship Races 2025, commencing on July 4 in Le Havre, France, and concluding on August 9 in Esbjerg, Denmark, is a grand maritime event featuring a fleet of majestic tall ships racing across the English Channel and North Sea. Organised by Sail Training International, the event includes four competitive races and a scenic Cruise-in-Company, stopping at Le Havre (July 4–7), Dunkirk (July 10–13), Aberdeen (July 19–22), Kristiansand (July 30–August 2), and Esbjerg (August 6–9). Around 6 to 10 tall ships are expected to participate, plus around 50 vessels, including 14 Class A ships, making it the largest fleet gathering of the series. The event emphasises youth development, with 100 young trainees aged 15–25 to sail from Dunkirk to Aberdeen or Aberdeen to Kristiansand.
